Module 04

What is the Reporting Line?

The Reporting Line is contribution-margin reporting for ecommerce brands: one daily number per channel — revenue minus refunds, returns, cost of goods, shipping and ops cost — built from your own Shopify, ad platform and 3PL data. It replaces four dashboards that disagree with a single line you can decide spend on.

A single upright matte-black bar with one engraved line — one number to decide on.

In short

Most brands decide ad spend on ROAS from the platform that spent the money, revenue from Shopify, and a gut feeling about margin — three numbers that never match. The Reporting Line pulls the real components into one place every morning: gross revenue, refunds and returns as they actually happen, cost of goods per SKU, shipping and payment fees, and the ops cost the diagnostic measured. What comes out is contribution margin by channel, by campaign where the tracking allows it, and over time. It is not a dashboard to explore; it is a line to read. When the line for a channel is negative after returns, you know before the month closes, not after. Because it is wired to the same events as the Tracking Repair and the Stack Bridge, the number agrees with what the platforms were told and what the bank received — which is the point.

What is on the line?

Contribution margin, decomposed so you can see what moved.

Why one number instead of a dashboard?

Dashboards answer questions you already have; a line changes decisions. One contribution-margin figure per channel, every morning, is enough to move budget and catch a channel that turned negative after returns. Detail is a click away when you want it; it is not in your face when you don’t.

Where does it live?

Wherever you already look: an email at 7am, a Slack channel, a Google Sheet, or a lightweight page — your choice at install. The data lives in your accounts.

Questions

Is this Triple Whale or Northbeam?

No. Those are analytics products with their own attribution models. The Reporting Line is built on your own event data, tuned to your margin structure, and it agrees with your tracking because it shares its source.

How accurate is it?

As accurate as the inputs — which is why it is installed after the Stack Bridge and the Tracking Repair, not before.

Can I add my own costs?

Yes. Fixed and per-order costs are configurable so the line reflects how you actually run the business.
